My favorite personal interests include:

Gallup’s Clifton Strengths Finder 2.0

Strengths Finder and the Disc Profile have helped me identify my strengths and find the best areas to focus on for continuous improvement in my leadership style.  I do believe that leadership is a continuous skill that is always improving and one that can be learned and taught but most likely never perfected.

These are my top five identified strengths: Futuristic, Strategic, Positivity, Woo, and Learner.
Here's a description of those themes and what they mean according to Strengths Finder.

My values:

  • Family is important to my career.
  • Leadership by example.
  • Mondays are a great day to focus on what we GET TO do instead of what we HAVE TO do.
  • Three things you can control everyday are your ATTITUDE, your EFFORT, AND your ACTIONS.
  • Failure is not meant to define you.  It’s meant to refine you to be all you are meant to be.
  • Live by the Scout Oath and Law.

Personal thoughts on my leadership style . . .  My leadership techniques are pretty basic:

  • Build relationships with community leaders, council, district and unit volunteers at all levels and take a personal interest in the staff related to work and their personal life.
  • Build and communicate a vision that has “Buy-in” and that individuals are proud of and excited about.
  • Encourage all to participate in leading where appropriate and to enjoy the work of the Scouting America.
  • Share your ideas early and often with your team and leadership.  I want to hear your opinion and ideas.  Don’t tell me what you think I want to hear.
  • When we allow our team members to lead, manage, and hold accountable everyone on the team, these leadership opportunities build stronger individuals and a stronger TEAM.

My motivation to serve the Boy Scouts of America is to make sure our organization remains and maintains relevance and is on the cutting edge of all youth serving organizations as the not-for-profit of choice. I am an individual who likes to take action and get things accomplished.
