Kevin Nichols
As a Scout Executive, I've been privileged to be involved in smaller-scale projects such as funding and building individual camp buildings to being the primary staff advisor to the large-scale $7 million Building Character Today, Lead Tomorrow Phase 1 campaign for the President Ford Field Service Council and its innovative Service/Program Center - Adventure Point.
This campaign was visionary in scope. The initial issue was a case of deferred maintenance on the Service Center equaling $1million in needed repairs. The challenge is donors tend to avoid "fix-it" campaigns. Our leadership had to be innovative in solving the challenger. We designed our campaign to enhance the facility to become a visionary program center in Michigan's second largest city and transform Scouting's impact on the community. What was a $1 million obstacle became a $7 million opportunity for investors. Click here to view the finished construction.
